Earl Grey is one of the most popular types of English teas and is thought to be one of the most quintessential for High Tea. Earl Grey is known for its heavy amounts of bergamot that give it a strong and pungent taste and smell, especially compared to other black teas. It has notes of citrus that add to its taste and give it a nice finishing touch, and you can enjoy it with the Aromatic Earl Grey Loose Tea Leaves.
Earl Grey tea was named in honour of 19th Century British Prime Minister Charles Grey. It’s believed Grey received a gift of tea from China that was flavoured with bergamot oil. The distinctive blend became so popular that he asked British tea merchants to recreate it. It’s been a firm favourite around the world ever since and we think our version makes a fine tribute.
